We’ve all familiarized ourselves with the world’s icons in one way or another – some in our own backyard, some a short flight away, and some deter us from visiting entirely due to the high costs of getting there.
That’s often the case anywhere ‘across the pond’. Every now and then, there are deals too good to pass up.
The caveat is that you might have to fork over another paycheck just to pick your seat, bring a carry-on aboard, and order a mid-flight meal.
That’s what happened to me when I flew Norse Atlantic Airways recently, something I don’t recommend.
The good news is it’s not just ironically costly “budget airlines” and tempting flash sales reeling you in. According to GoBankingRates, airfare is actually down across the board for 2 European icons.
So, if you’re late to the party like me, visiting a pair of Europe’s most renowned cities, the stars have aligned to book the trip of a lifetime in 2025.
Tea Time Is Calling: Visit London On The Cheap!
Things can be a bit pricey upon landing in London, so all the more reason to hawk-eye cheap airfare.
GoBankingRates claims the average airfare to London’s Heathrow Airport is just $296, a 20% drop from last year’s numbers.
London is the type of place where you want to max out your hotel points for extra savings on experiences. For example, I’m not the type of traveler who typically books tours, but sightseeing London’s timeless marvels on a bright red double-decker is a must, right?
That alone costs $50, plus food expenses, shopping in London’s luxe shops, and tickets on the Tube to get around.
I opted for the BigBus tour, which covered all the notable landmarks you’ve seen in the movies, from Big Ben to the grand Tower Bridge.
GoBankingRates didn’t share the best time of year to pounce on deals, but winter certainly isn’t the ideal time to visit, as London’s stereotypical gray skies and freezing temps last through February.
Some of the East’s most popular hubs, New York, Boston, and Orlando, have great deals to offer in London this spring.
According to Kayak, you can book round-trips flights in the $400’s from these 3 U.S. cities:
- Orlando (MCO)
- New York (JFK and EWR)
- Boston (BOS)
Travel Tip: For a pint of local brew and traditional British grub, I can’t recommend The Three Tuns enough, a block away from my nice stay at DoubleTree Marble Arch, where I was given a complimentary suite upgrade and BigBus tour discounts.
Storybook Streets & Endless Cafes: Paris Is Never A Bad Idea
Another city where expenses can add up quickly is none other than one of the world’s most visited cities.
There’s no doubt Paris is a global icon, and for good reason. I had the fortune to visit Paris for the first time last fall, too, and one of the reasons I decided on Paris was because it was unfathomably cheap to reach.
While I wouldn’t choose to fly stingy Norse Atlantic again, my ticket was under $150 one-way from LAX, aligning with GoBankingRates’ claim of round-trip flights being as low as $326, a steep drop from last year’s averages.
Upon landing in Paris, it’s easy to get around by Metro (just make sure you attach your photo to your Navigo pass or risk a fine!).
Visiting Paris is never a bad idea, so start 2025 off right by booking an epic trip, especially since the renowned Cathédrale Notre-Dame is back to ringing bells and leaving guests floored with its striking beauty.
To save money, I’d recommend staying outside the city center as the ‘burbs are well connected to reach Paris proper each day.
The newly opened Moxy Paris Clamart was my choice, which I highly recommend. Located adjacent to the tramline and sinful patisseries with $2 cappuccinos, what better way to start your day to explore Paris’ array of marvels like my favorite La Madeleine to, of course, the always-popular Eiffel Tower.
