A new report has unveiled the world’s trendiest 2025 destination; a beautiful, safe country that has been gaining steam the last few years.
If you were to hear the trendiest place in the world is a Balkan paradise with incredible food, cheap stays, and stunning blue water, you’d probably guess Albania.
But that’s sooo 2024. It’s another Balkan beauty’s time to shine.
As the calendar will soon flip over to a new year, HomeToGo has revealed the latest hotspot based on their own insight and search data for 2025 bookings.
Ahead of second-place Netherlands, with a whopping 215% year-on-year search increase, it’s time for Albania’s northern neighbor to take center stage.
2025 is the year to discover Montenegro’s stunning turquoise waters and cheap seaside villages.
More Flights, Extra Savings: What’s The Hype With Montenegro?
Montenegro packs a punch, and I don’t mean to give them a black eye, but if there’s something travelers should know when visiting this lesser-known country, it’s that the capital city of Podgorica is commonly regarded as a snoozefest.
Much like Albania, where travelers tend to skip Tirana, the same goes for Montenegro.
The coast is where you want to be, home to tranquil, picturesque villages at unbeatable prices.
There are no nonstop flights from the U.S., but it’s relatively easy to find a one-stop flight connecting through other European cities.
More airlines, such as Wizz Air, Pegasus, and Ryanair, have added service here, so you can typically save extra on airfare as well.
Since Montenegro has become easier to reach, more travelers have discovered this Balkan slice of paradise and rave about their experience, where word of mouth has done nothing but uplift Montenegro to new heights.

Montenegro’s Magical Coastlines
After landing in Podgorica, you’ll want to make your way to the coast, but the question is where?
Many in the know make Budva, Bar, or Kotor their first stop because busses are dirt cheap and frequent, but there are some little-known gems you’ll definitely want to consider, too.
Take Petrovac, for example. This delightful seaside town is waiting idly to be discovered with calm waters, picturesque streets, and mind-boggling value for the price you pay.
Pamper yourself at 4-star MonteCasa Spa & Wellness Hotel for just $85 or book a sea-view apartment for just $41 on Booking.
Another seaside treasure is Perast, boasting sightly Baroque buildings and the unmissable mountainous backdrop beyond the tranquil waters.
These just scratch the surface. As 2025’s trendiest country, more will surely be discovered sooner rather than later.
For now, most travelers will continue heading to Budva, Bar, and Kotor, but don’t sleep on Montenegro’s secret picture-perfect villages!
The trio of more popular coastal towns just mentioned are great to visit too, but as more tourists have discovered them, fighting for the best photo-ops might become more commonplace.
No matter where you go, expect to keep your anxiety in check as Montenegro is cheap across the board, whether it be food, transit, accommodations, or excursions – at least for now…
It’s quite possible to get by under $650 for a weeklong stay in what feels like a cheaper version of Croatia.
Montenegro’s Postcard-Worthy Beaches: Which Should You Visit?
As charming as Montenegro’s coastal towns may be, it’s understandably tempting to wander the historic streets enjoying the sea breeze without stepping foot in sand.
A glass of wine in hand overlooking the sea sounds perfect, but with turquoise waters and splendid weather year-round, you gotta hit up the beach at some point, right?
By the way, not only are beaches breathtaking, don’t skip Montenegro’s gorgeous lakes either, such as Lake Skadar (you’ll thank me later!).
There are beaches to match every vibe – calm and peaceful, high-end beachfront resorts, and even designated nude beaches (don’t vacation with grandma!).
According to TripAdvisor, these are the top 5 beaches to visit in Montenegro:
- Mogren Beach
- Long Beach
- Ploce Beach
- Jaz Beach
- Becici Beach (top rated resorts!)
Travel tip: If you want great value for a luxurious stay, consider Becici’s 5-star Splendid Conference & Spa Resort for just $104 in January.
